Welcome to the Forum: The Funnel is Dead, Long Live the Long Tail
This year's theme: People build great brands and products. (Not you - you're not in control; give it up).
If you looking to learn about CGC, social computing and blogs, you're in the right place.
Author's note: The problem with news reporting these days is the immediacy of it. It's great to see footage of what's happening around the world live, while it's happening, so that we can influence change and understand directly. But it's near impossible to put any significant level of insight and understanding when there is no "soak time" or opportunity to get perspective.
That's my problem. I'm live blogging and will do my best to provide not just overviews but insight. If the immediacy of live blogging means I come up short - apologies. I'll try my best. Please comment so that we can raise the level of discourse. It's social media at it's best.

I think that both immediate news and news with insight have their place. Society (at least U.S. society) has definintely moved more towards instant gratification and wanted to know everything right away. However there is still a need for someone (e.g., Newsweek, Time, etc.) to step back and take a broader, longer term view of the news and provide the synthesis that people need in order to properly interpret instantaneous news.
I can get local temperatures in real-time instantaneously over the internet. However, in order to become aware of broader, longer term trends on and implications of global warming, I need someone to give me the forest view instead of the trees.
