Do We Need a New Type of CEO?

RIchard Edelman says we have a new CEO these days.  CEOs are leading from the front, blogging and being agents for more than just revenues and profits.

These are the CEOs we need..and while there may be more of them these days than there were before, there certainly aren't enough!

Part of the new deal with consumers is understanding that they are looking for corporations to pick up  the gauntlet of responsibilty where institutions like governments are failing.  As we continue to invite consumers into the discussion, we're going to have to listen to and act upon their interests beyond the things we want them to care about.  They don't live in a vacuum.  New CEOs recognize that they don't lead in a vacuum.

(He also said that bloggers are part of the vox populi.  I like that.)
